Milk is one of the most requested yet least donated items to Virginia’s food banks. On average, the families coming to our food pantries receive less than 1 gallon of milk per year.

In 2019, the Federation of Virginia Food Banks will make more milk available than ever before through the Milk for Good program. Your contributions will go directly toward the purchase of fresh, locally processed, nutrient-rich milk for pantries to put on their shelves. On average, a $5 donation will provide 24 servings, or three half-gallons, of milk.

One 8-ounce glass of milk is loaded with essential vitamins including 8 grams of protein to help build and repair muscle tissue; calcium, vitamin D and phosphorus to help build and maintain strong bones and teeth;  Vitamin A for healthy skin and eyes and B vitamins for energy.

Milk for Good is made possible by Colonial Farm Credit, Farm Credit of the Virginias, and MidAtlantic Farm Credit. It is a partnership of The Dairy Alliance, American Dairy Association North East, the Virginia State Dairymen’s Association, and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks.
